Part-time Assistant Pre-school Teacher: 3s class

 

The Cooperative Nursery School of Champaign-Urbana seeks an assistant preschool teacher for our 3’s classroom for the 2017-2018 school year.  Classroom hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30am – 12:30pm.  Starting pay is $10/hour and two paid holidays.

Teachers follow the Creative Curriculum in all of our classrooms.

Major duties and responsibilities of this position are:

  • Support lead teacher in the implementation of the Creative Curriculum

  • Give direction to parents assisting in the classroom, as needed

  • Participate in staff meetings with the Director

  • Participate in bi-annual parent feedback meeting with personnel chair

  • Participate in Coop member meetings

 

Position Requirements and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a deep love of children, compassion for parents, a collaborative mindset and demonstrated teaching expertise.

 

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED

 

Experience:

  • One year of child development experience in a pre-school, kindergarten or daycare center

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Degree in early childhood education

  • Bilingual 

 

Training:

  • Fifteen hours of continuing education annually including the following:

  • Mandated reporter training

  • Food handling training

  • SIDS training

 

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the Creative Curriculum

  • Knowledge of Conscious Discipline
